The Blessing of the Susquehanna - 01/11/09

On Sunday, January 11, the local Orthodox Communities from the Greater Harrisburg area assembled at City Island Park in Harrisburg for the Great Blessing of Water on the Susquehanna River. In the Orthodox world, this traditional rite is usually done on or around the feast of Theophany. This was a regular event in years passed, and now has been reinstated, and will be a yearly event for the future. Thank you to Larry Smith from Christ the Saviour Church in Harrisburg for the pictures.
